Post Holdings’ president and chief executive, Robert Vitale, has taken an unexpected medical leave of absence from the packaged-foods company for an undisclosed condition.
The St. Louis company on Monday said it is too soon to know Vitale’s course of treatment or the timing of his recovery.
Vitale has also taken a leave from Post spinoff BellRing Brands, where he serves as executive chairman.
Post said Jeff Zadoks, executive vice president and chief operating officer, will serve as interim CEO while Vitale is on leave.
Vitale has been president and CEO of Post since November 2014 and became executive chairman of BellRing shortly before the nutrition-drinks maker’s October 2019 initial public offering.
BellRing said Darcy Davenport, its president and CEO, will serve as its sole principal executive officer during Vitale’s leave.
